Our speaker series is designed to keep you up to date on energy markets, policies, and trends in the industry as the Alliance advances meaningful changes for your business in the West.

We're excited to have Alliance Board member Bret Sumner of Beatty & Wozniak as the kick-off speaker for our 2025 industry spotlight series. He'll provide an overview of key legal, policy, and regulatory issues confronting industry, and discuss how Western Energy Alliance and its members can work strategically to make federal lands great again.

Over the past four years, federal leasing and permitting reached all-time lows, while legal challenges to industry reached an all-time high, resulting in significant regulatory uncertainty, development delays, and stranded investment.  With a new Congress and new Administration in 2025, there are tremendous opportunities for industry to advocate for and achieve strategic and systemic reforms that are durable, defensible, and creditable. These reforms can minimize the regulatory whiplash that industry has experienced over the past four Presidential Administrations, and provide long-term regulatory certainty, which in turn provides greater business certainty for development planning and capital investments.
